Berlin (dpa) – Werder Bremen have suffered a blow in the fight against Bundesliga relegation with news on Sunday that talismanic striker Claudio Pizarro could miss more games through injury.
The 37-year-old suffered a tear to an abdominal muscle and a rib injury during a World Cup qualifier for Peru last week and was forced to miss Bremen’s 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Asked about his chances of making Saturday’s home game with relegation rivals Augsburg, Pizarro told reporters: «It will be tight.»
Bremen are a point above the drop zone with six games to go.
