Berlin (dpa) – Mainz defender Leon Balogun will be able to play again this season after the German Football Association (DFB) reduced a recent ban for unsportsmanlike conduct to two games.
Balogun has already served the first match of his suspension, against SV Hamburg, so after missing out against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, he will be available for the final Bundesliga game against Hertha Berlin.
He has also been ordered to pay a fine of 10,000 euros (11,500 dollars).
Balogun was banned for hitting Eintracht Frankfurt player Carlos Zambrano with his knee in a match on April 24. The incident went unseen by the referee but the DFB investigated based on television evidence.
