Berlin (dpa) – Germany talent Leroy Sane plans to stay at Schalke for the next season despite alleged interest from abroad, the midfielder told Saturday’s Bild paper.
Sane, 20, has a contract at Schalke until 2019. He said his father, the former Bundesliga player Souleymane Sane, has also recommended him to stay put for now.
«I believe I will be playing at Schalke next season,» the once-capped Sane said. «Every time I talk about it with my father he tells me ‘Schalke is good for you.'»
Sane, who is in his breakthrough season and could be in Germany’s Euro 2016 squad, said he wants to move abroad at some stage, with European champions Barcelona, who are reportedly among the interested parties, the preferred choice.
«I am making no secret out of it. One day I want to play abroad and at a bigger club than Schalke. Best at Barca – they have been my dream club since I was a little boy,» Sane said.
