Berlin (dpa) – Mick Schumacher, the son of record Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher, had a winning debut in the Italian Formula Four series on Saturday.
The 17-year-old from the Italian Prema Powerteam won from second place on the grid in Misano ahead of Mexican Raul Guzman Marchina and American Manuel Correa Juan.
«That was great, my race speed was simply fantastic,» Mick Schumacher said.
Schumacher is competing in the Italian and German F4 racing series, the German season being his second after a 2015 debut.
Schumacher’s father won a record seven F1 world titles and an unprecedented 91 grands prix. Michael Schumacher is continuing is recovery from severe head injuries sustained in a skiing accident in France in December 2013.
