Wiesbaden, Germany (dpa) – Freshly crowned Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg will visit his birthplace Wiesbaden on Wednesday, his management has confirmed to dpa.

Rosberg had earlier asked Wiesbaden mayor Sven Gerich via Facebook for a meeting and a regional speciality.

«I would like to drop by at the town hall tomorrow (Wednesday
morning) for some marinated cheese with onion. With my family. Is that possible?» Rosberg asked.

To which Gerich answered: «Dear Nico Rosberg, please pm (private
message) me so that we can arrange something. Looking forward to it.»

Rosberg’s management said a news conference would be held at the town hall on Wednesday around the meeting.

Mercedes driver Rosberg, who lives in Monaco, clinched his first world title on Sunday at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He was in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday for a sponsor event.
