Doha, 7 de febrero de 2016.- Doha, ciudad capital de Qatar demuestra al mundo que le apuesta al deporte y desde este lunes 8 de febrero es sede el 79 Congreso de la Asociación Internacional del la Prensa Deportiva, un evento que será el más grande en la historia de esta organización que nació en 1924 porque demás de lo mágico de la ciudad sede abordaran temas trascendentales para la vida de los periodistas deportivos.

Los trabajos inician a las 9:00 horas con las secciones continentales. Gianni Merlo, el italiano que fue electo presidente de AIPS en el 68 Congreso de Marruecos que se realizo del 11 al 15 de julio de 2005, once años después ha logrado una fortaleza que se nota con la organización del 79 Congreso en esta pequeña isla del golfo pérsico de un país que no rebasa los 2 millones de habitantes.

Gianni Merlo ha sido un arquitecto social deportivo, su principal logro sin duda es el programa de jóvenes reporteros con el que ha permitido a periodistas deportivos acercarse y ser protagonistas  top event del deporte a quienes les ha cambiado a vida después de asistir a los cursos que experimentados colegas han confeccionado para motivarlos a seguir en esta maravillosa profesión.

Otro logro trascendental es la adecuación de estatutos a las exigencias de modernidad que vive el mundo con el periodismo multimedia sin dejar de olvidar los principios de fraternidad y exigencia de mejores condiciones de trabajo para quienes realizan esta profesión en condiciones complicadas por la prepotencia de dirigentes y abusos de organizadores de eventos que no quieren otorgar facilidades para las tareas de cobertura.

La riqueza y fortaleza que ha dado Gianni Merlo a AIPS queda de manifiesto con las largas  horas  de trabajo, negociación y coordinación que ha tenido con la Asociación de Qatar, el Comité Olímpico de este país y el gobierno de esta nación que se nota, el comité de recepción y hospitalidad está dejando muy alta la vara para futuros congresos.

Desde la llegada al aeropuerto, edecanes del 79 Congreso de AIPS recibe a los asambleístas en la puerta de los aviones, los traslada en vehículo oficial al area VIP para el visado del pasaporte y en menos de una hora los lleva al Hotel y Centro de Convenciones Sheraton de estructura piramidal que se distingue de entre los cientos de rascacielos que dan identidad a Doha.

Las sorpresas a los congresistas son desde unos riquísimos dulces hasta un iPhone 6s, los alimentos variados, sabrosos y abundantes pero sobre todo la calidez de los organizadores y voluntarios de la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas Deportivos de Qatar, ellos han puesto para que delegados de mas de 100 naciones trabajen en mesas y aprueben en pleno resultados, planes y proyectos que el Comité Ejecutivo que preside Gianni Merlo les de seguimiento.

La agenda del Congreso incluye conferencias de FIFA y la Asociacion Internacional de Atletismo, el festejo de dia del deporte en Qatar y una reunión con los organizadores de la Copa FIFA Qatar 2022 y por supuesto recorridos y visitas turísticas para conocer la grandeza de esta nación, candidata a todos los mundiales deportivos que se pueda.

Los trabajos que inician hoy con las secciones continentales, continuaran hasta el 11 de febrero, el día 6 fue de llegada para los delegados nacionales, dia libre para caminar, conocer y admirar las bondades de Doha con una población de más de 700 mil habitantes, ciudad de la que hablaremos en otra nota informativa.

Durante la estancia en Doha habrá oportunidad de platicar con José María Lorente, un periodistas español de 90 años de edad que ha estado en más de 45 Congresos de AIPS y le pediremos que hable del Congreso que se realizó en México, evento que marco la universalidad de la Asociación y los recuerdos que tiene de Don Mario Vázquez Raña que fue miembro del Comité Olímpico Internacional y que hace unos meses falleció pero se le recuerda mucho por su legado al deporte y muy en especial al de México con su cadena de periódicos por toda la nación.

Doha, February 7, 2016.-  Doha, Qatar’s capital city shows the world that is betting on sports, that´s why this Monday February 7, it hosts the 79 Congress of the International Sports Press Association, an event that will be the largest in the history of this organization instituted in 1924.  Beside the magic of the host city, it will open transcendental issues about the life of the sport journalists

Jobs start at 9:00 am with Gianni Merlo, Italian man who was elected president of AIPS in the 68 Congress in Morocco,   celebrated from 11 to 15 July 2005.  Fifteen years later he achieved a fortress that it shows the organization of the 79 Congress in this small island in the Persian Gulf in a country that does not surpass the 2 million of inhabitant.

Gianni Merlo has been a sports social architect whose main achievement is undoubtedly the young reporters program with which has allowed sportswriters come and be involved in sport and who has changed them life after attending courses with experienced colleagues made to encourage them to continue in this wonderful profession.

Another major achievement is the adequacy of laws to the requirements of modern living the world with multimedia journalism while forgetting the principles of fraternity and demand better working conditions for those conducting this profession in difficult conditions by the arrogance of leaders and abuses of event organizers who do not want to provide facilities for the tasks of coverage.

Richness and strength that Gianni Merlo has given to AIPS is demonstrated by the long hours of work, negotiation and coordination that has had with the Association of Qatar, the Olympic Committee of this country and the government of this nation is notorious because the reception committee and hospitality is leaving very high the bar for future congresses.

From arrival at the airport, hostesses of 79 AIPS Congress welcomes the assembly at the door of the aircraft, they are transported in official vehicle which moves in the VIP area for a passport visa and in less than an hour leads to the Hotel and Convention Center Sheraton with a pyramidal structure that stands out from among the hundreds of skyscrapers that give identity to Doha.

Surprises to congressmen are from a scrumptious treats up till iPhone 6s, varied, tasty and plentiful food but especially the warmth of the organizers and volunteers of the National Association of Sports Journalists of Qatar, to delegates from more 100 nations in order to work at tables and they approve in the result,  plans and projects that the Executive Committee chaired by Gianni Merlo and give them continuity.
