GUATEMALA, 2 de junio de 2018.- Los atletas ya están listos para llegar a la Ciudad de Guatemala del 2 al 10 de junio, donde se celebrará el el II Torneo Centroamericano y del Caribe de Futbol Unificado de Olimpiadas Especiales.
Más de 200 atletas con y sin discapacidad intelectual, de 11 países, competirán mostrando sus habilidades deportivas y promoviendo un mensaje de inclusión, igualdad y respeto a través del deporte más popular del mundo, el fútbol.
Guatemala fue seleccionado como sede, recibiendo a las delegaciones de Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Puerto Rico y Perú y Belice como países invitados, ya iniciaron los preparativos y entrenamientos para representar a sus países en esta fiesta deportiva que estará cargada de valentía, pasión, alegría e inclusión.
El II Torneo Centroamericano y del Caribe de Futbol de Olimpiadas Especiales, Guatemala 2018, se llevará a cabo en su segunda versión bajo el programa de Deportes Unificados de Olimpiadas Especiales y siguiendo el formato de Copa Oro de CONCACAF. El programa Deportes Unificados une a las personas con y sin discapacidad intelectual como compañeros de equipo en diferentes deportes. Se inspira en un simple principio: entrenar, jugar y competir juntos es un camino rápido para la comprensión, la aceptación y la amistad.
El día 2 será la Ceremonia de Apertura y primer partido oficial del evento. Seguidamente los partidos se darán del 3 al 8 de junio, y las finales el día 9.

Central America and the Caribbean prepare for the II Special Olympics Football Tournament 2018

GUATEMALA, June 2, 2018.- The athletes are ready to arrive in Guatemala City from June 1 to 10 of this year, where the II Central American and Caribbean Special Olympics Tournament will take place.
More than 200 athletes with and without intellectual disability, from 11 countries, will compete demonstrating their sports skills and promoting a message of inclusion, equality and respect through the most popular sport in the world, football.
Guatemala was selected as the host country, receiving delegations from Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico and Peru and Belize as invited countries, and began preparations and training to represent their countries in in this sports celebration that will be full of courage, passion, joy and inclusion.
The II Central American and Caribbean Special Olympics Football Tournament, Guatemala 2018, will be held in its second version under the Unified Sports Special Olympics program and following the format of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Unified Sports program brings together people with and without intellectual disabilities as teammates in different sports. It is inspired by a simple principle: training, playing and competing together is a fast path towards understanding, acceptance and friendship.
The arrival of the delegations will be on June 1 and then begin on day 2 with the Opening Ceremony and the first official match of the event. Next, the matches will take place from June 3 to 8 and the final of the 9th.
