Mendoza, que ya ha conocido en varias modalidades deportivas el papel de excelente anfitriona (fue sede en 2003 de un mundial de futbol sala y a nivel de mayores propició sendos sudamericanos masculinos en el propio baloncesto en 1941 y 1966, entre otros varios grandes eventos de los que fue teatro), albergó exitosamente un fantástico torneo continental de damas a nivel adulto.

Argentina, que sólo una vez había recibido a las damas cesteras del continente en una justa femenil a nivel adulto en 1948, sesenta y cinco años después vio como una vez más Brasil, marcaba hegemonía plena en esta manifestación del músculo. En efecto, desde 1984 (año en el que Colombia fue el último país que consiguió vencerlo en una final), no hay
quien pueda con las auriverdes.
Las locales, lideradas por Carolina Sanchez, verdadero emblema mendocino del máximo seleccionado baloncéstico de mujeres, estuvieron más cerca que nunca de quebrar esa supremacia.
Pero al final, las brasileñas, pese a hallarse en desventaja parcial en el marcador en parte del cotejo, marcaron diferencias sobre el epílogo y se impusieron en la final celebrada en el estadio Dr. Vicente Polimeni de Las Heras, Mendoza, por 67 a 58 para celebrar su vigesimo cuarto cetro, decimocuarto consecutivo con éstos números individuales:

Argentina propitious South American of female basketball after 65 years and Brazil increases hegemony

Mendoza, which has already known in many sports modalities the role of excellent hostess (in 2003 hosted a World Cup of indoor soccer and in level of majors promoted one each male South Americans in their own basketball in 1941 and 1966, among other various major events of which it was theater), successfully hosted a fantastic continental tournament
of ladies in an adult level.
Argentina, which only once had received to the basketmakers ladies of the continent into a women’s game to an adult level in 1948, sixty-five years later saw how once again Brazil, was marking total hegemony in this manifestation of the muscle. Indeed, since 1984 (the year in which Colombia was the last country that managed to conquer it in a final), no one can with the auriverdes.
The hosts, led by Carolina Sánchez, true emblem from Mendoza of the maximum selection of the female basketball, were more closer than ever to break that supremacy.
But at the end, the brazilian women, despite of being with a partial disadvantage in the score in a part of the match, marked differences on the epilogue and they gained in the final held at the stadium Dr. Vicente Polimeni of Las Heras, Mendoza, by 67-58 to celebrate his twenty-fourth scepter, fourteenth consecutive with these individual numbers: Brazil (67): Da Costa 7, Da Paixao 19, De Paula 5, Do Amaral 18 y Bibiano 0 (initial); Coelho 0, Martins 0, Ribeiro 0, Nascimiento 9, Dos Santos 8, Souza 0 y Do Nascimento 1.DT: Luis Zanon.
