AIPS Centenary Congress Presentations: From François Carrard’s autobiography to Paris 2024 Olympics

SANTA SUSANNA, April 27, 2024 – The 86th AIPS Congress will open tomorrow (April 28) in Santa Susanna, Spain. And presentations from AIPS partners will also add value to the extensive programme of events. This year, the most important and prestigious global gathering of sports journalists takes on greater significance given that AIPS is set to commemorate its 100-year anniversary. 

SUNDAY, APRIL 28: On this day, the autobiography of former AIPS lawyer François Carrard, “By the Way”, which is being published posthumously, will be presented alongside the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona, which will attract the best sailors and sailing clubs from around the world.

MONDAY, APRIL 29: A presentation about the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will open proceedings on Monday, three days after the Oympics flame was formally handed to the French organisers in the all-marble stadium where the first modern Games were held in Athens in 1896. Also on the agenda are this year’s UEFA European Championship in Germany and the European Athletics Championships in Rome, Italy.

Athletics legend Edwin Moses will be in attendance to speak about his film and about Laureus. 

FISU and UNESCO will deliver their presentations and AIPS will introduce its ongoing project “100 Olympic Stories told by 100 Young Reporters”. 

Then the presentation of the AIPS Award for the best press facilities will also take place.

TUESDAY, APRIL 30: There will be presentations by IFBB and Special Olympics, while delegates and guests will also learn more about the SIMS (Sport Inclusion Media Seal) project, an initiative within the framework of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Sport program, of which AIPS is a partner.
