| MULHOUSE-ALSACE REGION, FRANCE (February 28, 2024) — With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games now just 149 days away, Panam Sports begins its goal of helping hundreds of qualified athletes from the Americas prepare for the world’s top sporting event, as well as those who will soon book their tickets to the Games in France. Panam Sports has been working hard to organize a training camp taking place before the Games that athletes will use to acclimate to France and prepare for their competitions. For the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, Panam Sports and the city of Tachikawa organized a massive and successful training camp that welcomed 113 athletes from the Americas who went on to compete at the Olympics. The result was a complete success, with athletes arriving to Tachikawa 17 days before the Games that allowed them to enter the competition in the best way possible. Panam Sports has been working for a long time to repeat and improve upon the success of the camp in Tachikawa at the training camp for Paris 2024. Last Thursday, Panam Sports officially announced the camp that will take place in France and break records in terms of number of athletes and participating countries. In an emotional and significant ceremony, top local leaders of the Mulhouse Alsace Agglomeration (m2A), Fabian Jordan, m2A President, and Carole Talleux, in charge of the mobilization of m2A for the Games, announced the camp, which will begin on July 14 and will last until August 3. “Mulhouse Alsace Agglomeration, which was already the second largest Games Preparation Center in France, is very proud, with all the elected officials and “Terre de Jeux” Referents from its 39 municipalities, to welcome the delegation from the Pan American Sports Organization, with more than 370 athletes and 170 supervisors and coaches, from 31 different countries. From July 14 to August 3, the largest training camp in the world in the history of the Olympic Games will be present on our territory. Our 11 selected sports venues meet all their expectations to allow athletes from 19 disciplines to prepare in total serenity for Paris 2024, Games that will come once in a lifetime. A WORLD-CLASS CAMP Mulhouse Alsace Agglomeration is gathering 39 cities, located in the northeast of France that is very close to the borders of Switzerland and Germany. It has a population of 280,000 inhabitants, including its central city Mulhouse and its 110,000 inhabitants m2A is located in Alsace, which belongs to the European Community of Alsace. The Camp will bring together more than 370 athletes and 170 coaches from 31 countries, including: Antigua and Bermuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and the Virgin Islands. Each country will have accesses to all of the training facilities that feature top-level technology and implementation, including an athletics track, a dojo with four tatami mats, three swimming pools, equestrian venues, two beach volleyball courts, a gym, medical services, a training room, physiotherapy, cryotherapy chamber, dining rooms, saunas, meeting and break rooms and much more. The goal is to provide athletes with all the necessary comforts for their stay and preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The camp will help prepare athletes from 19 sports, including: Archery, Artistic Gymnastics, Athletics, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoeing, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, Mountain Biking, Road Cycling, Rowing, Shooting Sport, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Weightlifting and Wrestling. Athletes from the American continent will be able to arrive to the camp in Mulhouse up to 12 days before their competition at Paris 2024. Each athlete must leave to begin their stay in the Olympic Village five days before their competition begins at Paris 2024. However, the benefits of this training camp go beyond just assisting athletes with their preparations for the Games. During their stay, the athletes will share their experiences with hundreds of children and young people from the participating cities, delivering a social and cultural impact by becoming important drivers of motivation and incentive for the new generations. «This camp not only aims to help our athletes prepare and arrive in the best way for the Olympic Games, but also to create an unforgettable experience for them where they can inspire hundreds of children and young people from Mulhouse Alsace Agglomeration who will have the possibility of watching the training sessions, sharing with the athletes and exchanging experiences,” added Jimena Saldaña.
