BOGOTÁ, Colombia, 6 de abril de 2020.– El luto embarga a millones de personas en el mundo y a nuestra familia de Periodistas, Periodistas Deportivos y Deportistas; nunca será fácil decirle adiós a nuestros amigos y colegas y menos en una situación como en la que actualmente vivimos, en la que literalmente no podemos darles el último adiós.​ Desde AIPS nos solidarizamos con las familias de los deportistas y de nuestros colegas, sean o no deportivos, son nuestros colegas.​

Por otra parte, los organizadores de eventos deportivos siguen informando sobre modificación en las fechas para cumplir con los calendarios tanto nacionales como internacionales.​

CONMEBOL

El presidente de la CONMEBOL, Alejandro Domínguez, sostuvo que se han tomado todas las precauciones necesarias para que cuando vuelva el fútbol a la cancha, «estemos todos para disfrutar del fútbol como debe ser – ¡todos juntos!».

«Con la casa en orden y finanzas sólidas podremos afrontar estas circunstancias excepcionales con confianza y con la capacidad de respuesta necesaria, tanto en lo financiero como en lo institucional»,​ afirmó el presidente Domínguez.

​

Cabe recordar que hace unos días, la CONMEBOL puso a disposición hasta 65 millones de dólares, para que los clubes que participan en sus torneos (Copa Libertadores y Copa Suramericana) puedan contar con un anticipo de hasta 60% de los derechos de participación.

​

«Como dirigentes, debemos cuidar al futbol, ser conscientes de su importancia, de las fuentes de trabajo que genera, no solo a los futbolistas sino a todo lo que hay a su alrededor. Es por ello que debemos ser responsables en las tomas de decisiones, que protejan al futbol y que minimicen, en la medida de lo posible, el impacto social y económico de esta situación»,​ indicó el presidente.

«La situación es crítica y no debemos subestimarla. Por ahora, es una batalla en la que debemos jugar de local, quedándonos en casa para frenar este virus»,​ exhortó por último Domínguez.

·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ La Liga Mexicana de Béisbol profesional, mantiene las esperanzas de inaugurar su temporada el 12 de octubre «Estamos atentos a la evolución de la batalla contra el Coronavirus a nivel mundial, pero seguiremos manejando la fecha de apertura acordada a finales de 2019».

La periodista estadounidense quien luchaba contra un cáncer desde hace más de 20 años, dio positivo para Coronavirus y su organismo que estaba más vulnerable por los tratamientos recibidos, no resistió el virus. En su paso por CBS News, tuvo una participación activa en la coordinación de la unidad de noticias en la Asociación de Periodistas Asiáticos, Americanos, la Asociación Nacional de Periodistas Hispanos, y la Asociación de Periodistas Lesbianas y Gays. Entre sus trabajos más importantes están la producción sobre la cobertura de noticias de última hora como el fallecimiento de la princesa Diana y el ataque del 11 de septiembre en 2004. Además, obtuvo el galardón Emmy de noticias de negocios por su trabajo sobre un spam informático.

·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ En cuento a la parte deportiva, otro de los eventos multideportivos que ha anunciado nuevas fechas, debido al aplazamiento de los Juegos Olímpicos Tokio 2020, es la décima primera edición de los Juegos Mundiales, Birmingham, Estados Unidos, que ahora se realizarán del 7 al 17 de julio de 2022, así lo acordaron la Asociación Internacional de los Juegos Mundiales y el Comité Organizador de Birmingham. Los juegos estaban originalmente planeados del 15 al 25 de julio de 2021.

El Periodismo Deportivo de Colombia está de luto. En España, donde estaba radicado murió Guillermo Tribín Piedrahíta, víctima del COVID19. En su larga y brillante trayectoria periodística, fue Director de Deportes del Diario El Siglo, Director de los Servicios Informativos de Radio Cadena Nacional y Circuito Todelar de Colombia, Editor Internacional de United Press International, Director de la Agencia EFE en Colombia y Redactor y Editor Jefe de la Agencia EFE en España.

ECUADOR

En Ecuador se ha registrado la muerte de 4 periodistas, dos de ellos dedicados al Deporte.

·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Manuel Adolfo Varas se desempeñó como locutor y periodista deportivo, nació en Guayaquil el 2 de abril de 1943. Durante 56 años de actividad periodística, se ganó el cariño de la gente gracias a su jocosidad.​ Como locutor comenzó su carrera en Radio América.

·​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Gerardo Mosquera falleció debido a un problema cardiovascular. Gerardo era el Gerente General de Radio Viva 91.9 F.M, por la cual pasaron muchos jóvenes quienes tuvieron en esa radio su primera experiencia, convirtiéndolo además en un formador de periodistas Era un apasionado por el fútbol, y esa pasión lo llevó a dedicarse al periodismo deportivo. Se dio a conocer en la Radio Voz del Trópico. Su muerte no se relacionó con el Covid-19.

REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA

Kalil, un amigo que no pudimos despedir como merecía

Cuando conocí a Kalil Haché disfrutábamos de un excelente día en su finca con motivo de la semana aniversario de la Asociación de Cronistas Deportivos de Santo Domingo. Desde entonces vi en él un ser humano excepcional. Su muerte, provocada de manera directa por la pandemia que azota el mundo de hoy, deja un mayor dolor toda vez que sus amigos y relacionados no tuvimos la oportunidad de despedirle como merecía. Un detalle que llamó mi atención es que nunca lo vi fumar, aunque el ministro de Salud Pública informó que se trataba de un fumador crónico.

​

Kalil tenía 87 años de edad y era coronel del Ejército. Fue propulsor y presidente del Círculo Deportivo Militar de las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía Nacional, además de un consagrado hombre del deporte nacional, fue uno de los pioneros del Polo en la República Dominicana. Estuvo involucrado también con el hipismo y creó el Clásico Kalil Haché, uno de los más tradicionales eventos que se corren cada año en el Hipódromo V Centenario.

​

Descanse en paz querido amigo junto a su amada esposa Elsy, quien dejó el mundo terrenal pocas horas después de sepultar a su compañero de toda la vida.

BOGOTÁ, Colombia, April 6, 2020.– Mourning is around millions of people in the world and around our family of Journalists, Sports Journalists and Athletes; it will never be easy to say goodbye to our friends and colleagues, much less in a situation like the one we are currently living in, in which we literally cannot say goodbye. From Aips we stand in solidarity with the families of athletes and our colleagues, whether or not they are from the sport field, they are our colleagues.

​

On the other hand, the organizers of sporting events continue to report changes in dates to comply with both national and international calendars.

​

CONMEBOL

President Alejandro Domínguez said that all necessary precautions have been taken so that when football returns to the field, «we are all to enjoy football as it should be – all together!».

​

«With the house in order and solid finances we will be able to confront these exceptional circumstances with confidence and with the necessary response capacity, both financially and institutionally», said President Domínguez.

​

It should be remembered that a few days ago, CONMEBOL made available up to USD $65 million, so the clubs that participate in its tournaments (Copa Libertadores and Copa Suramericana) can have an advance of up to 60% of their participation rights.

​

«As leaders, we must take care of football, be aware of its importance, of the sources of work it generates, not only for football players but for everything around them. That is why we must be responsible in decision-making, to protect football and to minimize, as far as possible, the social and economic impact of this situation».

«The situation is critical and we should not underestimate it. For now, it is a battle in which we must play at home, staying at home to stop this virus», said the president.

•​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Maria Mercader, was a renowned journalist for CBS News, who died in New York at the age of 54 after falling ill with coronavirus. The American journalist who was fighting with a cancer for more than 20 years, tested positive for Coronavirus and her body, which was more vulnerable by the treatments received, did not resist the virus. While at CBS News, she actively participated in the coordination of news unit at the Association of Asian, American Journalists, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and the Association of Lesbian and Gay Journalists. Among her most important works are, the production on breaking news coverage such as the death of Princess Diana and the September 11 attack, in 2004. In addition, she received the Emmy Award for business news for her work on an Informatics’ Spam.

•​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Regarding the sports news, another multisport event has announced new dates, due to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, is the 11^th edition of the World Games, Birmingham, United States, which will now be held from 7^th to 17^th July 2022, as agreed by the International World Games Association and the Birmingham Organizing Committee. The games were originally planned from July 15^th to 25^th 2021.

COLOMBIA

Colombian Sports Journalism is in mourning. In Spain, where he was living, Guillermo Tribín Piedrahíta died because of the COVID19. In his long and brilliant journalistic career, he was Director of Sports for the newspaper El Siglo, Director of the Information Services of Radio Cadena Nacional and Circuito Todelar de Colombia, International Editor of United Press International, Director of the EFE Agency in Colombia and Writer and Head Editor of the EFE Agency in Spain.

ECUADOR

In Ecuador the death of 4 journalists has been registered, two of them dedicated to Sport field.

•​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Manuel Adolfo Varas worked as a sports announcer and journalist, he was born in Guayaquil on April 2, 1943. During 56 years of journalistic activity, he gained the affection of the people because of his jocularity. As an announcer he began his career on Radio América.

•​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Gerardo Mosquera passed away due to a cardiovascular problem. Gerardo was the General Manager of Radio Viva 91.9 FM, in which many young reporters had the opportunity to have their first experience on radio, making him also a journalist trainer. He was passionate about, and that passion led him to dedicate himself to sports journalism. People started to know him while working in Radio Voz del Trópico. His death was not related to Covid-19.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Kalil, a friend that we couldn’t fire as he deserved

When I met Kalil Haché we were enjoying an excellent day at his farm on the occasion of the week anniversary of the Santo Domingo Sports Press Association. Since then I saw in him an exceptional human being. His death, caused directly by the pandemic that plagues the world today, leaves a greater pain since his close friends did not have the opportunity to say ‘goodbye’ as he deserved. One detail that caught my attention is that I never saw him smoke, although the Minister of Public Health reported that he was a chronic smoker.

​

Kalil was 87 years old and an Army’s colonel. He was a promoter and president of the Military Sports Circle of the Armed Forces and the National Police, as well as a consecrated man of national sports; he was one of the pioneers of Polo in the Dominican Republic. He was also involved with horse racing and created the Classic Kalil Haché, one of the most traditional events that take place every year at the V Centenario Racecourse.

​

Rest in peace dear friend with your beloved wife Elsy, who left this world a few hours after burying her lifelong companion.
