BOGOTÁ, Colombia, 15 de enero de 2020.- El tenista colombiano Robert Farah, actual campeón de los Grand Slam US Open y Wimbledon en la modalidad de dobles masculino junto a Juan Sbastián Cabal, ha informado por sus redes sociales, la razón por la cual no estará presente en el Abierto de Australia. El tenista publicó un pantallazo de la carta en la que explica que, las razones de su ausencia en el primer Grand Slam del año el australian Open, se debe a que una muestra de control dopaje que se le realizó el 17 de octubre de 2019, salió positiva con la sustancia Boldenona.
En la misma publicación, Robert comenta que, durante la pasada temporada, se le realizaron por lo menos 15 pruebas de manera aleatoria las cuales todas salieron negativas.

Luego de esta publicación tanto la Federación Colombiana de Tenis como Colsanitas, empresa patrocinadora del jugador y del tenis colombiano, también se pronunciaron, dejando claro que apoyan al tenista.

La FEDERACIÓN COLOMBIANA DE TENIS (FCT) se permite informar a la OPINIÓN PÚBLICA que:
1. La FEDERACIÓN COLOMBIANA DE TENIS (FCT) fue informada por la FEDERACIÓN INTERNACIONAL DE TENIS (ITF, por sus siglas en inglés), del hallazgo positivo en un examen Anti-Doping del tenista colombiano ROBERT FARAH, por haberse encontrado presencia de la sustancia “Boldenona” en una prueba realizada el pasado 17 de octubre de 2019 en Cali (Colombia).
2. Al tenista colombiano se le practicaron 15 exámenes Anti-Doping de manera aleatoria en el circuito internacional durante el año 2019 con resultado negativo. La última se realizó en Shanghái (China) el 7 de octubre de 2019 también con resultado negativo. En consecuencia, todos los exámenes tuvieron resultados negativos respecto de sustancias prohibidas.
Es importante aclarar que esos exámenes Anti-Doping realizados en el año 2019, el más exitoso de la carrera deportiva de ROBERT FARAH, salieron negativos, razón por la cual y bajo ninguna circunstancia sus sobresalientes triunfos pueden estar en duda.
3. El 7 de noviembre de 2018 (hace tan solo 14 meses), el COMITÉ OLÍMPICO COLOMBIANO (COC), a través de su presidente BALTAZAR MEDINA, alertó en comunicado de prensa oficial “sobre la presencia de la sustancia prohibida por la Agencia Mundial Antidopje (AMA) “Baldenona” en el ganado vacuno del país”, pues la misma “es utilizada de forma frecuente en el ganado vacuno que posteriormente es sacrificado para su procesamiento, venta y distribución”.
Dice, además, el COMITÉ OLÍMPICO COLOMBIANO (COC) que “en dicho estudio -refiriéndose a estudios del ICA- se comprueba que 1 de cada 4 muestras de residuos del ganado vacuno, se encuentra dicha sustancia, además que de acuerdo al ICA, existen 59 productos donde se utiliza la Boldenona para uso veterinario en Colombia, lo cual es un número bastante significativo”.
4. Fue precisamente esa sustancia Boldenona, la que se encontró en el cuerpo del jugador colombiano ROBERT FARAH en su examen Anti-Doping realizado en Cali el pasado 17 de octubre de 2019.
5. La FEDERACIÓN COLOMBIANA DE TENIS (FCT) respalda al jugador colombiano, que se reitera, siempre ha salido negativo en sus exámenes antidoping, y confía plenamente en que las autoridades del deporte internacional atenderán las explicaciones o descargos que en su momento deberá presentar el jugador ROBERT FARAH, sus abogados y su equipo médico.
5. La FEDERACIÓN COLOMBIANA DE TENIS (FCT) se solidariza con el jugador colombiano ROBERT FARAH, quien durante más de 20 años de intensa actividad tenística ha sido siempre reconocido no solo como un gran deportista sino también como un ser humano excepcional.

Frente a la situación informada por Robert Farah a los colombianos, Colsanitas se permite informar que:

Su esfuerzo y dedicación lo han llevado a ganar los torneos más importantes del tenis mundial y a alcanzar el número 1 de la ATP en la modalidad de dobles.
Trabajaremos de la mano de todo el Equipo Colsanitas para aclarar lo sucedido y de esta manera continuar con el desarrollo de la carrera de uno de los deportistas más exitosos en la historia del país.
En ese sentido, exploraremos las razones médicas que ocasionaron la presencia de Boldenona en el cuerpo de Robert.

Robert Farah goes through the most difficult moment of his professional career

BOGOTÁ, Colombia, January 15, 2020.- Colombian tennis player Robert Farah, current champion of the Grand Slam US Open and Wimbledon in Men’s doubles alongside with Juan Sbastián Cabal, has reported on his social networks, the reason why he will not be present at the Australian Open. The tennis player published a screenshot of the letter in which he explains that, the reasons for his absence in the first Grand Slam of the year the Australian Open, is due to a positive Anti-Doping test that was carried out on October 17, 2019, it came out positive with the Boldenone substance.
In the same publication, Robert comments that during the past season, at least 15 tests were randomized, all of which were negative.

After this publication, both the Colombian Tennis Federation and Colsanitas, a company that sponsors the Colombian player and Colombian tennis, also made a statement, making it clear that they support the tennis player.

The COLOMBIAN TENNIS FEDERATION (FCT – by its acronym in Spanish) inform to the PUBLIC OPINION that:
1. The COLOMBIAN TENNIS FEDERATION (FCT) was informed by the INTERNATIONAL TENNIS FEDERATION (ITF) of the positive finding in an Anti-Doping test from the Colombian tennis player ROBERT FARAH, for having found the substance «Boldenone» in a test conducted on October 17, 2019 in Cali (Colombia).
2. The Colombian tennis player had 15 Anti-Doping tests in a random way on the international circuit during the year 2019 with a negative result. The last one was carried in Shanghai (China) on October 7, 2019 also with a negative result. Consequently, all tests had negative results regarding prohibited substances.
It is important to clarify that those Anti-Doping tests carried out in 2019, the most successful year of ROBERT FARAH’s sports career, were negative, reason why and under no circumstances can his outstanding triumphs be in doubt.
3. On November 7, 2018 (only 14 months ago), the COLOMBIAN OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (COC), through its president BALTAZAR MEDINA, warned in an official press release “about the presence of the prohibited substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) ‘Baldenone’ in country’s cattle”, as that «is frequently used in cattle that are subsequently slaughtered for processing, sale and distribution».
In addition, the COLOMBIAN OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (COC) says that “in that test – referring to ICA studies – it is verified that this substance is found in 1 out of every 4 samples of cattle residues, and also that, according to ICA, there are 59 products where Boldenone is used for veterinary use in Colombia, which is a fairly significant number.
4. It was precisely that substance Boldenone, the one which was found in the Colombian player ROBERT FARAH’s body, in his Anti-Doping test conducted in Cali on October 17, 2019.
5. The COLOMBIAN TENNIS FEDERATION (FCT) supports the Colombian player, reiterating, who always has been found negative in his Anti-Doping tests, and is fully confident that the international sports authorities will attend the explanations or discharges that in its time, must submit the player ROBRT FARAH, his lawyers and his medical team.
