LAUSANA, 2 de enero de 2019.- Para nosotros, 2018 termina hondamente afectado por los sucesos que se produjeron cerca del estadio San Siro en Milán el 28 de diciembre, cuando, antes del partido de la Serie A entre Inter y Nápoles, barras del Inter atacaron una caravana de fanáticos de Nápoles y una persona, uno de los atacantes, murió atropellado por un vehículo utilitario deportivo (SUV) que pasaba por el lugar. La violencia de los fanáticos había sido planeada, según surge de la investigación, no por un joven violento – tal vez desahogando su rabia de ser marginado -, sino por un graduado universitario. Esta es una señal de que se ha producido un salto cualitativo en el mundo del micro crimen de las barras bravas en el fútbol. La violencia organizada se está volviendo cada vez más sofisticada y también vinculada a la política. Los clubes en muchos casos se ven obligados a sufrir, sin tomar medidas serias, contra sus propios fanáticos violentos, donde hay jóvenes nacidos de las políticas equivocadas engendradas en el pasado por los propios clubes. Asistimos a ver como el aficionado a los deportes, visceral, sanguíneo, casi romántico, del pasado, se ha convertido en un monstruo creciente.

EL FENÓMENO

Este tipo de violencia no se ve solo en Italia, y desafortunadamente está muy extendida en el mundo. No hay país que sea inmune a los hechos violentos en el deporte. Por esta razón, tenemos la necesidad de que el periodismo deportivo se aleje de los violentos y se involucre en una batalla cultural para curar este cáncer. Nuestra profesión está en peligro y hacer algo, es cada vez más apremiante. Es un fenómeno desgraciado, que no debe ser subestimado. La violencia también está relacionada con el amaño de partidos, no lo olvidemos. Si queremos defender la civilidad, nuestro lugar de trabajo y el de las generaciones futuras, debemos analizar bien cada situación. Y generar las condiciones para denunciar todos y cada uno de los hechos provocados por violentos y quienes los resguardan empobreciendo los contenidos del deporte.

Por ahora, las federaciones y los clubes están haciendo muy poco, y parece demasiado tarde, porque están sujetos a chantajes internos de todo tipo. Por lo tanto, debemos apoyarnos firmemente en aquellos que creen en los principios de una sociedad saludable. No es una batalla fácil, pero es necesaria y urgente.

LO POSITIVO

Nuestro 2018 en AIPS fue positivo. Muchas de nuestras asociaciones nacionales han trabajado muy bien en la defensa de nuestra profesión, han comprendido que es necesario reaccionar y no solo sufrir pasivamente el tsunami de las redes sociales, que están cada vez más en manos de quienes quieren manipular la realidad y las mentes.

Debemos aprender a usar los medios sociales de la manera más correcta, a seguir la lógica de la calidad de la información y la investigación periodística, estudiando más, preparándonos mejor, capacitándonos, jerarquizando la profesión, elevando su nivel.

PREMIOS AIPS SPORT MEDIA

El 21 de enero de 2019 en Lausana celebraremos la ceremonia inaugural de los premios AIPS Sport Media Awards. Será una velada muy importante para nuestro futuro, porque se ha hecho una gran inversión en cultura y ya vemos sus resultados positivos. La colaboración con el Comité de Prensa Deportiva de Qatar, nos ha permitido crear un proyecto cultural del más alto nivel y el éxito está en la participación en estos premios: tenemos un total de 1.273 presentaciones, muestra que existe el entorno necesario para una iniciativa como esta.

Ahora tendremos que dar más importancia a nuestras iniciativas, nuestro objetivo es mejorar las condiciones de trabajo y el espacio para la independencia de todos nuestros colegas.

La independencia de nuestra profesión es una garantía de progreso. Nunca resignarnos, sino reaccionar positivamente. La lucha contra la corrupción y la violencia es una lucha cultural a la que debemos comprometernos todos los días.

Message from the president of AIPS, Gianni Merlo

LAUSANNE, January 2, 2019.- For us, 2018 ends deeply affected by what happened near San Siro stadium in Milan on December 28, when, before the Serie A match between Inter and Napoli, Inter ultras attacked a convoy of Napoli fans and one person, one of the attackers, was run over and killed by a passing SUV. The fan violence had been planned, as is emerging from the investigation, not by a violent young man, perhaps venting his rage from being marginalized, but by a university graduate. This is a sign that a qualitative leap has taken place in the world of the micro-crime of football ultras. Organized violence is becoming increasingly sophisticated and also linked to the politics of the moment. Clubs in many cases are forced to suffer, without taking serious action against their own violent fans, who are the youth born from wrong policies of the clubs’ own past. The visceral, almost romantic sports fan of the past has turned into a shiny and entrepreneurial monster.

THE PHENOMENON This type of violence is not seen only in Italy, but unfortunately it is widespread in the world. There is no country that is immune to it. For this reason, the need for sports journalism to distance itself from the violent and to engage in a cultural battle to cure this cancer, which endangers our profession, is ever more pressing. This phenomenon should not be underestimated. Violence is also linked to match-fixing, and this should not be forgotten. If we are to defend civility, our place of work and that of future generations, we must analyze every situation well.

For now, federations and clubs are doing too little, and too late, because they are subject to internal blackmail of all kinds. Therefore we need to stand firmly alongside those who believe in the principles of a healthy society. I know, it is not an easy battle, but it is a necessary and urgent one.

THE POSITIVES At AIPS, our 2018 was positive. Many of our national associations have worked very well in the defense of our profession, they have understood that it is necessary to react and not just passively suffer the tsunami of social media, which are increasingly in the hands of those who want to manipulate reality and minds. We must learn to use social media in the most correct way, to follow the logic of quality by studying more.

AIPS SPORT MEDIA AWARDS On January 21st in Lausanne we will celebrate the inaugural awards ceremony of the AIPS Sport Media Awards. It will be a very important evening for our future, because a great investment has been made in culture and we already see its positive results. The collaboration with the QSPC, the Qatar Sports Press Committee, has allowed us to create a cultural project of the highest level and the success of participation in these awards – a total of 1273 submissions, shows that the environment needed for an initiative like this exists. Now we will have to give more importance to our initiatives, because our goal is to improve the working conditions and the space for independence of all our colleagues. The independence of our profession is a guarantee of progress. We must never resign ourselves, but react positively. The fight against corruption and violence is a cultural struggle which we must commit ourselves to every day.
