MEDELLÍN, Colombia, 20 de diciembre de 2018.- La Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (WBA, por sus siglas en inglés), pionera entre las organizaciones gubernamentales de boxeo, considera a los atletas y aficionados como pilares fundamentales y reitera sus intenciones publicadas en junio de 2018. Estas intenciones exigían «El regreso del boxeo» porque creemos firmemente que todas las partes interesadas en este deporte deben estar unidas. El boxeo será solo un deporte, la WBA ya es un organismo internacional de profesionales y aficionados.

El mencionado comunicado de prensa, basado en siete pilares, ya ha sido respaldado por varias federaciones nacionales que han expresado su apoyo y necesitan llevar a cabo un plan que fortalezca y beneficie al boxeo. De esta manera, hemos alcanzado el primer punto de nuestra carta, ya que se han resaltado nuestros valores de universalidad, diversidad, respeto y compromiso.

Por lo tanto, continuamos con el propósito sobre el bienestar de los atletas. Pensamos en su salud, educación y jubilación. Es necesario proporcionar herramientas que les ayuden dentro y fuera del ring. Esto también se aplica a los entrenadores, jueces, árbitros y médicos, ya que el buen estado de nuestros atletas también depende de ellos. Es por ello, que nuestras plataformas digitales, la propiedad intelectual y el material de investigación centralizado en una academia de la WBA serán fundamentales para este objetivo.

Además, creemos fielmente en nuestra red mundial de colaboradores y este conocimiento cumplirá con los requisitos necesarios para cada país. Por tal motivo, ahora estamos agregando una nueva oficina ubicada en Lausana, Suiza, que nos ubicará en el epicentro de los órganos rectores de todos los deportes. Esto también nos permitirá estar aún más cerca del Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI), el órgano gubernamental con la más alta jerarquía deportiva, y abrir nuestras puertas para ponerlas a su disposición para apoyar lo que sea necesario, al mismo tiempo que protegemos y unimos el boxeo como uno de nuestros principales objetivos.

Además, las plataformas digitales para una mayor transparencia estarán disponibles para los fanáticos, para que puedan participar y conocer el trabajo realizado para beneficiar el boxeo. Asimismo, avanzamos paso a paso para mejorar la experiencia a través de aplicaciones que les permitirán interactuar directamente con la WBA.

Sin lugar a duda, el mundo del boxeo quiere una solución sostenible; cambios en la forma de gobernar este deporte para aumentar la credibilidad, la competitividad, la preparación y la interacción de todos aquellos que pertenecen a él. Por tal motivo, los atletas, entrenadores, oficiales, médicos y todos aquellos que formamos parte de la WBA reiteramos nuestro compromiso de mejorar el boxeo.

Para tener éxito, debemos continuar fortaleciendo y estrechando vínculos con las nuevas federaciones nacionales. El mundo se encuentra en un estado constante de cambio y para adaptarnos no debemos resistirnos a estos cambios, debemos establecer nuevos paradigmas. Seguimos solicitando respetuosamente a su federación nacional que se una a esta alternativa para elevar el boxeo a su nivel más alto.

La Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, la primera y más antigua organización de este deporte, solicitará oficialmente al Comité Olímpico Internacional, como autoridad suprema, y a su presidente Thomas Bach, que acepte esta alternativa y que nuestra entidad mundial sea reconocida oficialmente, teniendo en cuenta la experiencia, la imparcialidad y el conocimiento listo para promover el desarrollo sistemático del boxeo, al mismo tiempo que se fortalecen los valores olímpicos.

The comeback of boxing II: Game changing viable alternative for the future of Boxing

MEDELLIN, Colombia, December 20, 2018.- The World Boxing Association (WBA), pioneer of governing organizations in boxing, considers athletes and fans as fundamental pillars and reiterates its intention published in June of 2018. These intentions called «The comeback of Boxing» because we firmly believe in the unity of all stakeholders in the sport. Boxing shall be only one sport; the WBA already is a pro/am international body.

The mentioned press statement, based on seven pillars, has been already supported by several National Federations whom have expressed their support and need to carry out a plan that strengthens and benefits boxing. In this way, we have fulfilled the first point of our letter, as our values of universality, diversity, respect and commitment have been underlined.

Therefore, we continue the purpose on the well-being of the athletes. We think about their health, education and retirement. It is necessary to provide tools that help them inside and outside the ring. This also goes for the trainers, judges, referees and doctors, as the good condition of our athletes depends on them too. For this our digital platforms, intellectual property, and the research material centralized in a WBA Academy will be fundamental for this objective.

Furthermore, we faithfully believe in our worldwide network of collaborators and this knowledge will meet efficiently the requirements necessary for each country. This is why, now, we are adding a new office located in Lausanne/Switzerland, which will locate us to the epicenter of the governing bodies of all sports. This will also allow us to be even closer to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the highest hierarchy sports’ governing body, and open our doors at their disposal to support in whatever is necessary while protecting and uniting boxing as one of our main goals.

Also, the digital platforms for more transparency will be available for the fans, so they can be engaged and aware of the work towards the benefit of boxing. In addition, step by step, we move forward in order to enhance the experience through applications that will allow them to interact with the WBA directly. Without a doubt, the boxing world wants a sustainable solution; changes in the way of governing this sport to increase its credibility, competitiveness, preparation, and interaction of all those who belong to it. That is why athletes, trainers, officials, doctors, and all those who are part of the WBA reiterate our commitment to improve boxing.

In order to succeed we need to continue to strengthen forces and narrow links with new national Federations. The state of the world is constantly in flux and in order to adapt we must not resist to changes; we need to set new paradigms. We continue respectfully request your national federation to join this alternative to elevate boxing to its highest level.

The World Boxing Association, the first and oldest organization of this sport, will officially requests the International Olympic Committee, as the supreme authority, and to its President Thomas Bach, to accept this alternative and our worldwide entity to be officially recognized considering the expertise, fairness, and knowledge ready to promote the systematical development of boxing while strengthening the Olympic Values.
