Gelsenkirchen, Germany (dpa) – Schalke and Gazprom have have renewed their sponsorship contract until 2022, the Bundesliga club said on Saturday.
Schalke supervisory chief Clemens Toennies said in a statement that the renewal of the deal with the Russian energy sector company Gazprom «contributes enormously to Schalke’s economic stability.»
Gazprom have been Schalke’s main sponsors since 2007, and the previous deal was until 2017.
Schalke will allegedly receive 20 million euros (22.8 million
dollars) in an improved contract, after Gazprom previously is said to have paid 15 million euros per season.
